Another Monday down, and another 2 days off of work…life is going to be pretty hard once all of these great holidays are over. I am however ready to get back into a running/not eating dessert for breakfast, lunch, and dinner routine. I think 2014 is going to be my year to run a 1:30 half and run my first full marathon! I am ready to train! I’ve also decided that I need to be more realistic in the races I run, location wise. I unfortunately do not own a money tree (yet) and with travel and hotel fees on top of the race entries it just isn’t possible to do all of the things I want to do. I think I am officially decided on which marathon will be my first though and it feels good (it’s also close by).
I finally got to go for a run today with my new best friend, Garmin Forerunner 620. I don’t know if it was the excitement of running with my new watch, the weather or what but I had a smile plastered on my face for the entire run which has not happened in a long time.
I ran during my lunch at work so I could make sure to take advantage of the warm(er) weather we are having this week. I ended up doing 4.2 miles at an 8:58/avg pace. I was definitely not thrilled with my pace, but I opted to run on a snow packed trail so it was still a great workout regardless. It is also going to make for some great times when I start running on roads that are not snow packed. I also ended up with negative splits which I haven’t seen in months, literally, so that was a nice unplanned surprise!
I, again, got a little caught up in the picture taking while I was on my run so…sorry The one bad thing about experiencing all of these awesome things up here in the mountains is that pictures never do it justice. I’ve said it a million times when I’m trying to take a picture to share with my friends back home but it is just not possible, no matter how hard I try! So, if you think these pictures are pretty – come see it in person, you’ll be blown away.
I’ve always seen this little kicker that someone built going down the hill onto the rail trail outside of my work and I’ve always thought it was really cool. I ended my run by going down the hill to the ramp and I had the bright idea that I really wanted to go get a sled and play on it.
Then I got to the bottom and saw that it was covered in blood. I changed my mind.
That’s how I’ve decided to end this post. With a bloody pile of snow.
Hope you all had a great Monday!
