Trail Miles, Finally!

Good morning!

I’m feeling rather sore today from yesterday’s workouts, and I am pretty thrilled about it. I ran a total of 8.5 miles, but split up into two sets. I wanted a long run, but I didn’t have time to do it at once…so I figured splitting it was better than not doing it at all. The sets looked like this:

4.5 miles during my lunch, 8:15/min avg pace
4 trail miles after work, 8:35/min avg pace (yes, it felt great to be out on the trails again:))
P90X Ab Ripper

I forgot how intense the P90X ab ripper workout was, and in just 15 quick minutes! I am feeling that one in my sides today. But I did round out the workout with a spritzer (no idea why I was craving that) and a few chapters in my new book, Insurgent.

 

My knee has started hurting a little less when I run, but it’s stuck in this stage where it still irritates me, but not to the point where I can’t run on it. I’m starting to think part of the pain is coming from super tight hip flexors. I have been working on perfecting a routine that stretches the ol’ flexors, but I’m not quite there yet. My problem is that when I don’t have a specific routine for something, I’ll pretty much just sit there deciding what to do next, and then I end up laying on the floor reading Twitter.

This has nothing to do with running, but look what I had waiting for me in my email inbox this morning.

 

Anyone that knows me, knows I love my birthday more than literally anything in the world. A whole day (or week/month..same thing;)) dedicated to me?! Yes please! But I usually make it the entire month before, and then once it hits the actual month (November) it’s pretty much officially my birthday (…in my mind).

Back to relevant things…

I ordered my first juice cleanse from Nekter Juice Bar this week. I am only doing the 1 day cleanse because it’s my first time doing this and I think I can do anything for 1 day, but 2..? Or more? I’m a little skeptical on my discipline after 1 day :) I decided to give in and order it because I just feel like I need something to kick start a serious diet. Ever since I came back from traveling, I have not felt like I could get back to where I was before I left, fitness/health wise. I just feel bloated and gross, and my efforts thus far are not proving to be working on getting myself back to where I was. This week I decided it was time to get down to business, and stop half-assing it and wondering why nothing was happening :) So, I finally cut sugar out of my diet…not completely because that’s near impossible, but no more candy and blatant sugar eating. I am only eating natural sugars from fruit and things like that. It’s being delivered tomorrow, so I guess I will be starting it first thing Friday morning. Yeah. Juice cleanse on a Friday…doesn’t that sound nice :/ This should really test my discipline, since Friday’s are usually the days I decide it’s okay to treat myself :) I will be sure to let you guys know how it goes! I really have no idea what to expect, results wise, so…hopefully my little-to-no expectations are exceeded.
